Our mission is

to provide a spiritual home for the English speaking, international community in the Capital City area, and to form disciples who live out the mission of Jesus in this world.

Our vision is

to be a HOME

where strangers become family

Eph 2:19; Acts 2:42-47; Joh 13:35

and hearts are changed

Ezek 36:24-28; Rom 10:9-10; Eph 3:14-19

through God’s love

Rom 5:5; 1 Joh 3:1; Joh 15:9-17

so that

faith comes alive,

Joh 3:3; Rom 10:17; Gal 2:20

lives are transformed,

Luke 19:1-10; Rom 12:2; Matt 5:14-16

and hope is reborn.

Jer 29:7, 11; Rom 15:13; Eph 1:18-22

We are an international church. Jesus commissioned His Church to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). We cherish the variety and diversity of people from many nations, cultures, languages and church traditions in the IEC.

Whoever you are, wherever you come from, whatever your background, whether you intend to stay for longer or are just visiting: welcome to worship with us!

We are an evangelical church. Jesus invites everyone to “repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15), the evangelium that God has sent His Son Jesus to save the world from their sins through His death on the cross.

A member church of the Finnish Ecumenical Council and the Evangelical Alliance, we also are related to almost all the other denominations and churches in this country. We welcome believers from all church backgrounds and traditions. Every baptised Christian can apply for membership of the IEC.

We are in Finland. More specifically, our focus is the Capital Region of Helsinki. We love this country, are committed to “seek the welfare of this city” (Jeremiah 29:7), and are passionate to see Jesus’ name being glorified in this nation and its society transformed through Him.

After His resurrection Jesus sent the Church “into all the world to proclaim these good news to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15). In line with this mission we want to play our part in evangelisation of “all nations” and share the good news.

We are a church. We come together to worship God and to talk and listen to Him in prayer. We desire to grow as Jesus’ disciples and serve with our gifts to meet the needs around us. We want to connect to congregants and newcomers by inviting people to our church and investing into relationships. As “good stewards of God’s grace” (1 Peter 4:10) we intend to give from our time, talents and treasures to the kingdom of God.

The IEC started its ministry in the late 1970's and has been operating as an interdenominational congre-gation, connected to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland.
