Faith tested(click HERE for study questions) (Matthew 24:23-27)Timo Keskitalo, February 13, 2011
Part of the Exposition of Matthew series, preached at a Sunday Service service
The reading starts with the words "at that time". What kind of time is "that time"? Are we in "that time"?
How is it possible that false Christs and prophets will be able to perform miracles?
How can you then separate right prophet from a wrong one?
Has anybody in the group experienced supernatural events in non-christian circles?
What is really the role of miracles in the Christian faith?
Why does a false prophet invite people into "desert" or "inner chambers"?
How does this relate to monastery movement of church history?
How about the present longing for mystical, meditation and silence?
Why does a false prophet say Christ is "here" or "there"?
How about people traveling to healing meetings and places of special blessing or anointing?
Can Holy Spirit be transported by airplane from place to place?
Are there holy places?
What are the facts about the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in this text?

23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. (ESV)
