Jer 29:11-14

Read the passage from the beginng of the chapter in order to get the context.

What kind of advices are there for the life in Babylon? What is said about after Babylon?
We are in exile in this world and waiting for our deliverance to eternal life. How do you apply the words of this reading to this?

Read Dan 9:1-3
What was Daniel's response to this passage?
People in Babylon were feeling depressed. They were crying when they remembered Zion. In that situation there is a danger of falling into hopelesness, but also an opportunity to enliven our prayer life. What motivates you to pray? Have you had seasons of prayer in your life?

What does it mean that God knows his plans for you? What does this sentence really communicate?
The word for future could also be translated as "end" or "behind". In some translations "future and hope" is translated "expected end". Taste the flavour of this promise of God. What does it mean to you that God gives you the future and the hope?

For those who heard these words of promise in Babylon, the promise was beyond them. It was to be fulfilled after 70 years (verse 10). They could think that this promise helped their children and grandchildren. Anyway it was to be fulfilled after their life. How does this fit our reading of these words for ourselves?
